Discovered in 1907 in San Benito County, California, it is the official state gemstone of California and is highly prized among collectors and gem enthusiasts. One of its most remarkable features is its strong dispersion, which is even higher than that of diamond, giving it exceptional fire and brilliance when cut properly.
