Bustamite
Bustamite is a rare manganese silicate mineral known for its pink to reddish color. It is mainly valued by collectors and is sometimes used as an ornamental stone, but rarely as a gemstone due to its softness.

About

Bustamite

Bustamite is a naturally occurring mineral composed of calcium manganese silicate with the chemical formula CaMnSi₂O₆. It belongs to the pyroxenoid mineral group and crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system. The mineral is named after Anastasio Bustamante, a former president of Mexico, where it was first discovered. Bustamite is best known for its attractive pink, reddish, or rose-colored appearance, which is caused by the presence of manganese. It may also display shades of brown, gray, or pale orange depending on its composition and impurities. The mineral can be translucent to opaque and typically exhibits a vitreous (glass-like) to slightly dull luster. While it can be polished and used decoratively, it is not commonly faceted for jewelry due to its physical limitations. Scientific Name: Bustamite
