Amblygonite
Amblygonite is a rare lithium-aluminum phosphate gemstone known for its soft pastel colors like pale yellow, pink, and green. It has a glass-like luster but moderate hardness (5.5–6), making it suitable mainly for pendants and earrings rather than daily-wear jewelry.

About

Amblygonite

Amblygonite is a rare and attractive gemstone belonging to the phosphate mineral group, composed mainly of lithium, aluminum, phosphate, fluorine, and hydroxyl. Its chemical formula is (Li,Na)AlPO₄(F,OH), indicating the presence of lithium and sodium in varying proportions. This gemstone is valued not only for its beauty but also for its importance as a lithium-bearing mineral. Amblygonite forms in granitic pegmatites, which are coarse-grained igneous rocks rich in rare elements. These geological environments allow large crystals to develop under slow cooling conditions. The color of Amblygonite ranges from pale yellow, greenish-yellow, and colorless to soft pink and bluish tones. The most desirable stones are transparent with a delicate pastel appearance. Its vitreous (glass-like) luster and good transparency make it suitable for faceting, although it is not widely used in commercial jewelry due to its relative softness and perfect cleavage. Amblygonite has a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6, making it softer than many popular gemstones like quartz or garnet. This limits its durability for everyday wear.
