Anglesite is a mineral composed of lead sulfate with the chemical formula PbSO₄. It belongs to the sulfate mineral group and crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system. Anglesite is typically formed as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zones of lead ore deposits, especially from the alteration of galena (lead sulfide). The gemstone is known for its high density and exceptional brilliance. It often appears colorless, white, or gray, but can also occur in yellow, greenish, blue, or brown hues due to impurities. Transparent crystals with high clarity are highly prized by collectors. Anglesite exhibits a resinous to adamantine luster, giving it a bright and reflective surface when cut.
