Axinite is a rare and interesting mineral belonging to the borosilicate group, with a complex chemical composition typically represented as (Ca,Fe,Mn)₃Al₂BO₃Si₄O₁₂(OH). It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system and is known for its distinctive wedge-shaped or axe-head-like crystals, which is how it gets its name (derived from the Greek word “axine,” meaning axe). Axinite commonly occurs in colors such as brown, violet, bluish-purple, gray, and sometimes greenish shades. The color variations are primarily due to the presence of iron and manganese within its structure.
